A typical day in the life of a Buyer:

  • Manage the end-to-end procurement process for assigned categories, including sourcing, completing the groundwork for tendering to be then be presented to the Head of Procurement, and negotiating contracts with suppliers.

  • You will be responsible for monitoring purchases for multiple sites.

  • Ensure timely and cost-effective purchasing of goods, materials, and services while adhering to quality standards.

  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring they meet service-level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs).

  • Manage supplier performance through regular reviews and audits, addressing any issues or disputes effectively.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure reliable supply, quality, and cost improvements.

  • Evaluate and onboard new suppliers, ensuring they meet company standards for quality, sustainability, and ethical practices.

  • Management of supply chain ESG (Environmental and Social Governance)

  • Manage the process management for buying,storing and distributing goods and services,

  • Support the Head of Procurement in developing and executing strategic sourcing plans. Along with articulating Bannatynes buying strategy & goal to both internal and external audiences.

  • Achieve cost-saving targets by identifying opportunities for cost reductions, value improvements, and efficiency gains.

  • Conduct market research to ensure competitive pricing and remain informed about market trends, innovations, and supply chain risks.

  • You will be responsible for raising purchase orders and managing the associated systems and processes.

  • You will be responsible for project specific training to junior staff to ensure they follow the correct buying policies and procedures.

  • You will be required to assist in the management of an Assistant Buyer.

  • Analysing data to make informed decisions on forecasting for buying purposes.

What we are looking for

  • Previous experience in face to face supply chain management
  • Experience with supplier negotiation and contract management.
  • Knowledge of procurement best practices, including sustainability and ethical sourcing.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in procurement and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for building supplier relationships and working with internal teams.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of the supply chain.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to arrange tenders and cost comparisons for a wide variety of projects.
  • Experience in creating SLAs (Service Level Agreements) with suppliers.
  • Previous experience of managing of ESG (Environmental and Social Governance)
  • Previous experience of warehouse operations, processes and inventory management.

It would be desirable if you had previous experience in a maintenance and consumables procurement or buying role, preferably within the hospitality, health, or leisure sectors.
