Job Title : Health and Safety Compliance Coordinator

Hours : 40 hours per week (Maternity cover)

Rate of Pay : Depending on experience

Location : Field based across all regions (candidate will be expected to travel)

You'll work closely with multiple departments, using your expertise to identify risks, promote best practice, and drive continuous improvement.

A typical day in the life of a H&S Compliance Coordinator:

  • Develop, review, and implement H&S policies in line with legal and industry standards.

  • Monitor compliance across all sites, addressing any risks or non-compliance promptly.

  • Support the integration and maintenance of the Shields compliance system.

  • Conduct and review workplace risk assessments.

  • Implement hazard control measures and review their effectiveness.

  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, supporting root cause analysis and corrective action.

  • Develop and deliver engaging training content and inductions for staff.

  • Coordinate H&S training including fire drills, food safety, and SoloProtect admin training.

  • Support regional GM meetings and ensure regular employee updates via newsletters.

  • Carry out routine site audits for H&S and food safety compliance.

  • Inspect indoor play areas, catering sites, and contractor documentation via CHAS.

  • Support pest control follow-ups and manage food supplier approval documentation.

  • Maintain accurate records of accidents/incidents using the compliance system.

  • Assist with RIDDOR reporting and provide monthly accident data and trend analysis.

  • Liaise with stakeholders on incident claims and required documentation.

  • Act as a key contact for H&S concerns, ensuring clear communication across teams.

  • Keep compliance resources on the intranet up to date.

  • Collaborate with departments (e.g., Spa, Printwell, Vergo, Primary Authority) to maintain training relevance and improve safety culture.

  • Stay informed on safety legislation and trends through external training and research.

  • Contribute to strategy reviews, project proposals, and system improvements to enhance compliance performance.

What we are looking for:

  • Experience conducting risk assessments and site inspections

  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and best practices

  • Familiarity with food safety standards and requirements (e.g., Level 3 Food Safety qualification or equivalent knowledge)

  • Experience delivering H&S training to diverse teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot and address risks

  • Confident using compliance or audit systems (e.g., online platforms like Shields Safety or similar)

  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks across various locations.

  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

It would be desirable if you had previous experience in working in multi-site environments, particularly in hospitality, leisure, or health & fitness industries and knowledge of COSHH regulations and experience supporting COSHH working groups. It would also be advantageous if you had an understanding of contractor control processes and CHAS portal and familiarity with accident and claims investigations, including experience with RIDDOR reporting.
